Savage Son of a Gun

This is a very pretty track, and nice and jumpy. Savage Skulls, known for their not savage but rather melodic upbeat tracks and remixes, have put their touch on the admittedly already melodic Oh Land track, Sun Of A Gun. Beautiful stuff also, but not downloadable (yet), is their collab with Douster and now Robyn on a new version of the track Bad Gal. Checka out:

Flinch – Midnight Hustle

Don’t flinch! Or do. In fact, you’ll be flinching a lot, because this track from the Los Angeles artist of the same name throws punches. It’s good to see breaks coming back (and label Party Like Us supporting it), rising out of its own ashes like some sort of nightclubbing phoenix. Hard, to the point, dutchy and breaky. Enjoy!

We’re Back Again! For Real!

Ok, I was in Australia. Now I’m not. I’m back in productive Germany. Which means this blog will be bringing daily beats to you again! Isn’t that freaking awesome?! We’re gonna kick it to you in a shorter format now too! Exclamation pointzzz!!!!

Blog royalty AC Slater has remixed Electro royalty Crookers’ track Cooler Couleur, featuring french pop singer Yelle, implementing a metallic bassline that will make lots of producers go ‘how did he make that’ and a lot of clubbers pull a bass face. Rip it up!

Don Diablo & A Skillz

Don Diablo is strangely marketed. He is signed to Ministry of Sound, and is a very attractive man. If you went off his publicity alone and asked the question “What kind of music do you think this guy makes” based on this, you would most likely be way off. Don Diablo produces some of the most original and off beat electro records, and his singles over the last years (both alone and with Example) have been fantastic, left-of-centre ideas that are strange but brave choices for the masses.

A Skillz, from way back when breaks were king, was under the wing of Krafty Kuts, and slipped into the ether when breaks did. His remix of Don Diablo’s track is the most fantastic example I’ve seen in a while of keeping relevant while staying true to your roots. This may be a little slow for some, but for me this is the track of the week!

DJ Barletta Rocks!

It’s a name I see every now and again, but never seems to be able to break through in a huge way. With more and more DJ’s breaking through with cool interpretations of older tracks that weren’t dance tracks before (“We No Speak Americano”, “King of Africa” etc) DJ Barletta of Canada has perhaps thought the same thing and might have a hit on his hands. His productions have always been great, playing with a palette of b-more sounds and rave-y synths. I won’t say what the track is because I’m sly. That was a hint. So is the title of this post. Just listen already!

We’re back!

Um, hey guys.
My bad, my bad. I have been travelling these last couple of weeks and have not had the time to sit in front of a computer and blog. Shut up and post music, I hear you say. You shut up, I say. SNAP!

OH SNAP! used to be one guy but appears now to be two, (sort of like how Spank Rock was Spank Rock and XXXChange) that bring overweight clown b-more hipster stylings to the floor. With releases on, among other labels, Raving Loony faves Sweat It Out! Here is their remix of THAT tune by THOSE guys. Make it the version you play!

Douster

Pick of the week!

Douster is doing things differently. Tropically and African(ly). He uses the full orchestra, gets ideas out of the blue and implements them in ways that work but shouldn’t. Hailing from Argentina, he has remixed countless major releases of late. The first track is an African flavoured bouncer, a remix from Busy Signal, the second a more menacing but still bouncy Crookers remix of his track with Savage Skulls (Massive Taio Cruz Remix Anyone?) These are both real good tracks, so head over to the respective artists pages and give them props and lollies if you dig ‘em! (Thanks to Live For The Funk and Circle Square Triangle for the heads up!)
