DJ Barletta Rocks!

It’s a name I see every now and again, but never seems to be able to break through in a huge way. With more and more DJ’s breaking through with cool interpretations of older tracks that weren’t dance tracks before (“We No Speak Americano”, “King of Africa” etc) DJ Barletta of Canada has perhaps thought the same thing and might have a hit on his hands. His productions have always been great, playing with a palette of b-more sounds and rave-y synths. I won’t say what the track is because I’m sly. That was a hint. So is the title of this post. Just listen already!

We’re back!

Um, hey guys.
My bad, my bad. I have been travelling these last couple of weeks and have not had the time to sit in front of a computer and blog. Shut up and post music, I hear you say. You shut up, I say. SNAP!

OH SNAP! used to be one guy but appears now to be two, (sort of like how Spank Rock was Spank Rock and XXXChange) that bring overweight clown b-more hipster stylings to the floor. With releases on, among other labels, Raving Loony faves Sweat It Out! Here is their remix of THAT tune by THOSE guys. Make it the version you play!

Douster

Pick of the week!

Douster is doing things differently. Tropically and African(ly). He uses the full orchestra, gets ideas out of the blue and implements them in ways that work but shouldn’t. Hailing from Argentina, he has remixed countless major releases of late. The first track is an African flavoured bouncer, a remix from Busy Signal, the second a more menacing but still bouncy Crookers remix of his track with Savage Skulls (Massive Taio Cruz Remix Anyone?) These are both real good tracks, so head over to the respective artists pages and give them props and lollies if you dig ‘em! (Thanks to Live For The Funk and Circle Square Triangle for the heads up!)

Telonius and Moullinex

When I find something I like on the Internet, I then try to do a bit of quick research on the artist to see if I can’t find any interesting facts. Most of the time it’s fruitful. This time it was not. POST SOME THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF, Telonius! So, from now on I will start every sentence with ‘I think’. I think Telonius is from Munich. I think he is part of the Gomma Label. I think Moullinex remixed his track Disco Tek and it’s a strong 80’s style electro jam. No, wait, I know it is! Ha. (Thanks to Night Drive for the heads up!)

Mike Posner – Skeet Skeet

Mike Posner, an American flavoured Daniel Beddingfield, had commercial success earlier this year with his track Cooler Than Me. Personally, I never heard the track. Everone I ask knows it. I’m not sure under which rock I was hiding when people were listing to the track nearly 4 million times on MySpace, but there you have it! DJ Skeet Skeet and his wonderous rotating cap have brought a very straightforward but functional and well produced remix to the table, with a very sneaky guest vocal sample ‘ay!’ by Kid Sister (I’m 90% sure). (Thanks to Gotta Dance Dirty for the heads up!)

Tom Piper, Scribe, Itch-E, Scratch-E

Thanking Gotta Dance Dirty for letting me get an insight to Aussie Music that I wouldn’t normally be able to hear. Itch-E and Scratch-E are a two piece from Australia that have had their latest track ‘R.E.F.R.E.S.H’ refreshed by Tom Piper. Tom Piper first gathered my attention with his track Noise, which was a wobbly yet deep track with a hard baltimore drive. Did well on the charts but didn’t seem to get much attention over here in Europe. Well, to remedy that, everybody get this banger!

Warrior One

Warriyah Waaan! Is how you should say it. Hailing from LDN and under the wings of the Fat! Crew, the two UK producers have been storming around with their refreshing blend of tropical dance funk. If that’s what you wanna call it. Their debut EP ‘Bad like Jimmy Cliff’ did the rounds and felt like a splash in the face with something cool and tasty. Recently they did a remix of Foreign Office’s track, Leaving the House, a nice groovy electro number:
